Application

The Izod-type Impact Machine is designed to assess the impact resistance of all types of buttons (10mm diameter and larger) commonly used in clothing manufacture or during daily use. The machine simulates violent blows by releasing a pendulum of a specified mass from a set height to strike the button. It helps determine if the button will break, fracture, or distort upon impact, ensuring the durability of buttons used in garment manufacturing.

Testing Method

  • Tension Test: In this method, the button is subjected to increasing tension until it breaks. The pressure value at the point of failure is recorded, and the test is repeated for multiple buttons to calculate the average strength and identify any significant deviations. The error margin should not exceed 25% of the average pressure.
  • Impact Test: The button is fixed securely in place, and a pendulum is released from a designated height to strike the button. The test observes whether the button breaks, fractures, or deforms upon impact. Buttons are tested until all samples have been evaluated.

Test Report
The testing report provides a comprehensive analysis of button strength, with a detailed breakdown of the test results, including the maximum and minimum values, comments, and recommendations based on the button’s performance. The report will categorize buttons as “light” or “heavy” based on their tensile strength and diameter. In impact tests, buttons should ideally not break or deform.
