VIT 155 – Knitted Fabric Stretch Recovery Tester for Fabric Tensile Properties

[product_tags_no_comma_alt]

Application

The Knitted Fabric Stretch Recovery Tester is designed to evaluate the stretch and recovery properties of knitted fabrics, particularly those made from stretch yarns. It measures the fabric’s ability to stretch under specified tension and extension. This tester includes both constant load test and constant extension test frames, providing a comprehensive solution for fabric stretch testing.

Why Test Fabric Stretch and Recovery?
The stretch recovery of fabric refers to how well the material returns to its original dimensions after being stretched. Fabrics with poor recovery properties can be difficult to work with during cutting, sewing, or ironing, and may shrink or distort after washing. Testing the stretch and recovery properties of knitted fabrics ensures quality control, improved durability, and better performance of garments and textiles. This is particularly important for fabrics made from elastic materials, as they are commonly used in garments that require flexibility and comfort.

Features

  • Precise Fabric Testing: Accurately measures the stretch and recovery properties of knitted fabrics under specified tension and extension.
  • Multiple Test Stations: Equipped with 3 test stations for fabric growth tests and 3 for fabric stretch tests, allowing for efficient testing.
  • High-Quality Construction: Made of durable stainless steel for reliable, long-lasting performance.
  • Comprehensive Data: Provides detailed results on fabric elongation and recovery, with clear measurements of the fabric’s ability to stretch and recover.
  • Versatile: Suitable for a variety of knitted and woven fabrics, providing valuable insights for textile manufacturers and quality control teams.

Testing Method

Test Method and Procedure

  1. Sample Preparation: Prepare five fabric samples, measuring (125±3)mm x (500±10)mm. Ensure the samples are free from folds, creases, or contamination (e.g., oil, water).
  2. Mounting the Sample: Slide the specimen loop onto the upper and lower hanger rods, securing them properly. Attach the upper hanger to the top bar of the supporting frame and connect the sample ring to the dowel pin.
  3. Stretching the Fabric: Attach a chain with a turnbuckle to the lower hanger and extend the fabric loop to the specified stretch percentage. Lock the chain into position and make minor adjustments with the turnbuckle.
  4. Recovery Period: After waiting for the required time, release the chain and measure the fabric’s elongation relative to the scale.
  5. Reporting: The report will include the original fabric elongation, the fabric elongation after 60 seconds of recovery, and the elongation after 2 hours. The percentage of fabric elongation and tension at which the fabric is stretched will also be documented.
