The tester is used to determine fabric stretch, fabric growth, and recovery after applying a specified extension and tension. Fabric samples are subjected to a pre-determined amount of tension, followed by a relaxation period. The fabric’s recovery is measured as a percentage of the total growth observed. The tester is perfect for high-stretch fabrics (greater than 12%) and provides valuable data on the material’s behavior after tension application.

Test Procedure

  1. Cut fabric samples to a size of 65mm x 560mm, ensuring they are free from wrinkles, oil, or grease.
  2. Clamp one end of the specimen in the tester’s top clamp, ensuring the fabric is prepared without creases.
  3. Measure and record the initial distance between the benchmark marks (Distance O1).
  4. Insert a dowel pin and apply the specified tension using the weight hook to the fabric.
  5. Perform 3 pre-stress cycles (from 0 to total tension) before measuring fabric stretch after the fourth cycle.
  6. Record the fabric recovery after relaxation at various intervals.
