Application
The VIT 224 Random Tumble Pilling Tester is designed to determine the pilling and fuzzing characteristics of textile fabrics. This tester uses stainless steel impellers rotating within individually lit aluminum chambers, constantly tumbling test fabrics against cork liners for a pre-determined duration controlled by a digital timer with an audible alarm. Compressed air is injected into the chamber to enhance the tumbling action, keeping the fabric samples in motion. The device is available with 2 or 4 pilling test chambers and requires a laboratory-standard compressed air supply.
Testing Method
The Random Tumble Pilling Tester has been the industry standard for assessing the pilling and fuzzing tendency of all fabric types. The test involves tumbling fabric specimens inside cork-lined test chambers using aluminum impellers rotating at a constant speed of approximately 1200 rpm for up to 60 minutes. After testing, the samples are removed, lightly cleaned, and carefully evaluated.
